“These Shatkarmas which effect purification of the body are secret. They have manifold, wondrous results and are held in high esteem by eminent yogis.” Hatha Yoga Pradipika (chapter 2 verse 23)
Shatkarmas are the six yogic cleansing techniques that are used by yoga practitioners for purification of the body from the toxins (excess mucus, acid and gas) and for preventing and eradicating disease. They are also used to increase one’s vital energy and to prepare for deeper yogic practices. While neti is the most widely know in the U.S., Yog Sadhan Ashram teaches all the shatkarmas that should be practiced regularly by serious yoga practitioners. Many describe shatkarmas as “secret” because they must be learned and practiced under the guidance of an experienced teacher.
Marina Lisjonok, a senior yoga teacher at the Ashram, will be teaching this workshop. Please come on an empty stomach to take a full advantage of this workshop and learn how to effectively cleanse your body with simple application of air, light, water and salt.
